Note: Okta Verify, the default mutifactor authentication (MFA) app for Okta, is the only authentication method that allows you to move forward through the "Forgot password?" link located under the password prompt of the MyLogin site. If you do not have the Okta Verify app set up on a smartphone or tablet, you can reach out to the JMU IT Help Desk at (540) 568-3555 for further assistance.
- In a web browser, clear your browser's cache and history.
- Go to Mylogin.jmu.edu.
- Sign in using your JMU eID.
- Under the Password field, select Forgot Password?
- You will be prompted to verify your identity with Okta Verify.
- Once approved, you will be taken to a page to set your new password.
- Click Reset Password.
When you arrive at the password change screen, Please keep in mind that your new password requires the following:
- 1 uppercase
- 1 lowercase
- 1 number
- 1 special character
- A 16-character minimum
- Cannot be the last 24 password you have used
- Cannot be similar to your previous password
Be sure to update your password on all mobile devices, password managers, or auto-fill profiles.
- Forgetting the JMU-Official-Wireless network, then connecting back to it on all mobile devices, tablets, or personal computers will help you avoid getting locked out due to your password changing
- Note: The network will automatically lock with multiple bad passwords. Failing to remove and re-add the network on mobile devices will cause them to attempt to connect with your old password repeatedly.
