To Completely Remove an Install of SolidWorks

  1. Save any work and close any open applications - a system reboot may be necessary.
  2. Visit the Cise Support Portal: https://support.cise.jmu.edu/iso/SolidWorks/ (your eID username and password are required).
  3. Download uninstall.cmd from the list of SolidWorks downloads: Image
  4. Open (or double-click) the script. You will likely be notified that Windows protected your computer from an unrecognied application: Image
  5. Click the "More info" link, then click the "Run anyway" button to proceed:

  7. You will be prompted for adminstrative privilege. Please click yes and approve the program. 
  8. The script will run for several minutes as it attempts to remove any prior installs of SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical SQL databases, and associated prerequisite utilities:

  10. The computer may reboot. If so, the script will resume after you log in.

Symptoms

If SolidWorks was previously installed and is failing to reinstall, complete removal of the prior copy, its program files, SQL database, and prerequisite components may be necessary. This script may help.
