How do I Install and License SolidWorks 2020?

Install for Personal Computers

1. Go to https://support.cise.jmu.edu/iso/SolidWorks and log in with your JMU eID and password
2. Download SolidWorks 2020 SP4.0 B.ISO (21.2 GB)
3. Open the ISO (should open through Windows Explorer) and run StartSWInstall.hta (html application)
4. The installation will take a few minutes to an hour and close automatically upon completion

Install for Faculty/Staff Computers

1. Go to \\fs.cise.jmu.edu\Installs using Windows File Explorer
2. Scroll down and run SolidWorks 2020 SP4
3. The installation will take a few minutes to an hour and close automatically upon completion

Off-Campus License Borrowing

Note: For SolidWorks to be used off the JMU network, a license must be borrowed!

Borrowing the License

1. Bring the system onto the JMU network (connect to the JMU-Official-Wireless)
2. Run the SolidNetWork License Manager from the Start menu
3. Within the utility, go to the License Borrowing tab
4. Select all available license on the left
5. Choose a date no more than 30 days in the future
6. Click the [Borrow >] button
   1. Please be patient - this task will take a few minutes
   2. If you receive an error, continue
7. If all licenses move from the left to the right, you are good
   1. If any licenses are left, select them and repeat these steps

Return the License Early

1. If you need to return a license before the borrowed period elapses
2. Bring the system onto the JMU network (connect to the JMU-Official-Wireless)
3. Open the SolidNetWork License Manager from the Start menu
4. Within the utility, go to the License Borrowing tab
5. Select all borrowed licenses on the right
6. Click the [< Return] button
   1. Please be patient - this will take a few minutes
7. If all licenses move from the right to the left, you are good
   1. If any licenses are left, select them and repeat these steps
