Respondus Lockdown Browser Giving an Error for Screencastify

Screencastify is a browser extension for Google Chrome which gets installed on not only your personal profile, but any additional profiles that are listed within the Chrome Browser. While this may live harmlessly in the background, Respondus Lockdown Browser cannot run if it detects the extension in any of the profiles within the browser. 

To uninstall an extension:

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Look to the right of your address bar and look for the extension's icon (it should look like a puzzle piece).
  3. Click the icon and select from the available list Screencastify
  4. Click the three dots beside Screencastify to display more options
  5. Click Remove from Chrome.
  6. Confirm Remove in the new window to remove the Extension.

If you don't see the extension's icon:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. At the top-right, click the three dots
  3. Select Extensions and Manage extensions.
  4. In the new window, find Screencastify and select Remove.
  5. To confirm, select Remove.

Again, you will need to repeat this process all the profiles within Google Chrome.

Symptoms

- Customer's Lockdown Browser is detecting that Screencastify is running in the background - Customer may report having removed Screencastify
