Details

Effective May 1, 2024, your Dukes email account will have been deactivated, and your account will be inaccessible. Moving forward, you will no longer be able to retrieve email from your account. JMU has taken this step to improve the university’s information security posture and to make efficient use of resources as cloud providers impose new storage limits and costs. This is also being done to align with JMU's policy of Disabling Graduate Duke's email account six month's after graduation, which began December of 2021.

This change was communicated several times starting from December 2023 and we have asked that users take the steps to move their personal information from their Dukes email account to a third-party account prior to May 1st.

As a reminder, if you had not formally Graduated from the University this account will also be summarily Deactivated at the same time. Once the account has been Deactivated, there will be no ability for you to regain access or to retrieve information that was within the account. JMU IT is also unable to re-activate your account without an active Student Role within the University.

Additional information can be found here on our JMU Computing Page.
