To request a legal name change or to correct a misspelling of your name in any JMU system, please contact the office relevant to your role(s):
- Students: Contact the Office of the Registrar at 540-568-6281
- Employees: Contact Human Resources at 540-568-6165
- Note: if you are both a student and an employee, you must speak to both the Human Resources and the Registrar Offices.
- Applicants: Contact the Office of Admissions at 540-568-5681
Please note, once the change is complete, the address book in Microsoft 365 will update within 48 hours. Also, If you report a legal name change to the University, you are not required to change your eID, nor does it happen automatically. If you would like an eID change, please see Requesting a New eID.
